The way I work
I believe everybody is an individual, with individual needs; I will therefore aim to work alongside you in addressing your particular emotional needs, and with a view to working towards change.
I see individuals and couples face to face, either long-term (open-ended if necessary) or short-term. After an initial assessment, I will discuss with you the most beneficial way in which we can work together to address your difficulties. I would describe my way of working as integrative, combining both humanistic, psychodynamic and cognitive theories, (including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy).
Each session lasts for 50 minutes for individuals, and 60 minutes for couples. Sessions are weekly with a regular appointed time each week, upon agreement. I also offer skype/telephone sessions.
I offer empathy and understanding, encouraging self-awareness and the ability to work towards change. Often it is useful to explore past experiences and behavioural patterns in order to discover more about yourself, enabling you to focus more clearly on what it is that you might wish to change.
I work with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), to encourage more positive thought processes and to learn helpful ways of coping with the present, and therefore the future.

Fees: Individuals £60, Couples £70
I am happy to discuss reduced rates for counselling students, voluntary workers and those working with disability.
